Clemson University received a grant from the US Department of Energy (DOE) to become South Carolina’s first Industrial Assessment Center (IAC). IACs offer no-cost energy assessments to small- to medium-sized manufacturing businesses across the state. The Clemson University IAC is one of only 28 IACs in the country.
IAC assessments are in-depth evaluations of a facility conducted by engineering faculty with upperclassmen and graduate students from a participating university. The IAC team will provide suggestions to help improve productivity, reduce waste, and save energy. According to the DOE, IACs usually identify more than $130,000 in potential annual savings opportunities.
