Saluda County School District to make energy efficiency improvements with stimulus aid
November 13, 2009

The Saluda County School District has been awarded $ 90,891 in federal energy stimulus funds by the South Carolina Budget and Control Board’s South Carolina Energy Office.

The district will install energy efficient heating and air conditioning units, along with systems to manage energy use, at Hollywood Elementary School.

“This grant will allow Saluda County School District to replace an inefficient, 30-year-old heating and air conditioning system at Hollywood Elementary School,” said John Clark, director of the South Carolina Energy Office. “Saluda County taxpayers will save over $13,000 annually in utility costs.”

The state’s 85 school districts are sharing $20.3 million in grants and loans for energy efficiency.  The state’s two- and four-year colleges are receiving a total of $12.2 million, and state agencies are getting $7.4 million for energy efficiency improvements.
